It pains me to say that after 6 years of writing this blog, I've successfully deleted every image accumulated since it's inception... and not on purpose mind you...
 Much of my experience since moving to Seattle four short months ago has had the reoccurring theme of letting-go. The loss of many important and valuable aspects of my life - physical, flesh, object - has put so many facets of my life into perspective... and this, albeit silly and insignificant to a grander scale, is the icing on the cake. Control is an arbitrary animal.
Stay tuned to the Ocular Novelty as I figure out how to navigate this shift.

My incredible and talented friend, Shanna Hill-McDowell, has spearheaded a super special, contemporary, sci-fi quarterly magazine that will launch the summer of this year. I was lucky enough to be asked to submit an illustration in response to prose that will be featured in the first issue - Monsters.

I happily spent Saturday flexing my stylist muscle... I successfully created the most delicate, neo-wizard, Mists of Avalon witch crown for my lovely friend Shanna of Guitars. The full moon on Saturday was in the house of Leo which Dipali Desai describes via Celestial Space Astrology:

The Full Moon in Leo occurs at 7 degrees on January 26th/27th, 2013. With the Sun in detached mind-oriented Aquarius while the Moon in dramatic heart-centered Leo, it is possible to initially experience a clashing of emotions under these specific astrological aspects that are a part of this Full Moon phase.

Emotions are bubbling high and low under this phase, yet precious illuminated insights will reveal themselvesthrough all of the conflict, clashes and perhaps overly dramatic interactions. After a series of unfortunate events upon my arrival/transition to my new habitat, I have been less than confidant in the rather impulsive move I made to the Pacific Northwest. Fortunate for me, I had a visit from my pops this weekend, and came to the realization that luck and comfort really don't matter when you have loved ones who are rooting for you. I'm am truly blessed with unconditional love and support; and no matter how many boxes of books I loose and how many cats poop on my stuff, I say bring it universe - I own you.

Like every great polaroid, dad manages to include his thumb...

After a very intense 9 weeks working at summer camp, I'm taking a much needed reprieve from the Tucson summer, and hunkering down in the mountains of Idaho for an extended vacation. Even though I've been home less than 24 hours, it is safe to say that I am much better suited for a Northern landscape. Updates and adventures to follow!
